I grew up doing gymnastics and cheerleading. Especially in cheerleading, we participated in lots of fundraising events. As I grew older I got to be more involved in the planning of these events and grew to like it more and more. We did things such as car washes, tye dye t-shirt stands, bow making classes, and even rented out an ice cream truck once! I think it were those experiences that started getting my mind in the business direction, career wise.
I enrolled in this class because it was one of the required classes for my major. I hope to gain some creative business knowledge from my professor, as well as, my classmates.
I can relate to your fundraising experiences, I was in several different groups in high school and all of them had some form of fundraising. It's cool that that experience has lead to you looking into the business side for a career path. While this class wasn't a specific requirement for my it definitely looked to be the most interesting class of the limited that I had to choose from.
ReplyDeleteI also was involved in both cheerleading and gymnastics coincidentally. It really taught me how much effort needs to be put into the organization of fundraising events. Also, they taught me a lot about communication skills in a sales setting. You always need to put the customer first and put your best foot forward because first impressions go a long way.
